Like most people in their thirties, we have been lucky enough to attend a number of weddings, christenings, birthday BBQs and other such soirees! At most of these, we have at some point experienced at least one little person crawling underneath a chair, toddling across the dance floor as someone approaches with a tray of drinks, or tugging at the cloth of an exquisitely laid table only to be suitably reprimanded by their parents! WHY? Because little people don't have a lot to amuse themselves at these events.
Sometimes, we hire a bouncy castle and let our most precious possessions take their lives into their own hands and bounce with giant 12 year olds 3 times their size! Other times, we try to cajole our tots into sitting still for an hour and looking interested in an entertainer.
The truth is, under 5s don't want to sit still - they want to play and if you hire a package from Pipsqueaks, that is exactly what they can do!
And now to birthday parties...
It is difficult to arrange birthday parties for our little one's early years. As parents, we want to give them a memorable day, but options are limited. Play centres lack privacy, often have very small areas for younger children and can be intimidating, not to mention expensive by the time you have bought fancy coffees for all the mums and dads! If you are lucky enough to get exclusive use, it is often later on in the day, when little ones are getting tired and grumpy.
A lot of us opt for a more private smaller scale party at home, but then your child is spending their day playing with the toys they always play with and to add insult to injury, they are expected to share (not a 1 year old’'s greatest strength in our experience) with the other guests! Hire a hall and we are back to the entertainer or mini bouncy castle dilemma and if we choose neither, we become chief entertainer! Toddlers don't really understand musical statues and fundamentally object to being out, choosing usually to either have a tantrum or just sneak back on the dance floor and join back in! Sometimes, there is nothing for it but to let them all just run around and slide on their knees.
As qualified primary school teachers, we understand the importance of learning and developing through play, whilst above all having fun and all our equipment is selected with this in mind.
